I'm Chris Bettig, a French-American artist and creative director living in Los Angeles, California.
After graduating from the Maryland Institute College of Art I joined Urban Outfitters as a Design Director for 10 years. I joined Google in 2011, where I led the visual design for Project Kennedy, co-founded Material Design, and launched design.google. From 2014-2026, I’ve directed identity design, UX design systems, visual design and cultural moments at YouTube.
I designed the YouTube logo and typeface that’s been in use since 2017.
As a freelance creative director, I collaborated with brands like Adobe, Carhartt WIP, Fila, Nike, Puma & Warner Bros.
My paintings and sculptures have been exhibited in solo exhibitions across the US and the UK, and are in the collections of Dion Neutra and Steven Spielberg.
I’ve spoken about design, technology and scaled systems at the Tate Modern in London, CXI Germany, & POV Budapest.
