I’m Chris Bettig, a French American artist and creative director living in California with my miniature dachshund Theo.
After attending the Maryland Institute College of Art I joined Urban Outfitters as a Design Director defining the global brand identity via retail interiors and displays.
Freelanced for a bit for: Adobe, American Greetings, Carhartt WIP, C1rca, Converse, Desert Daze, Fila, J Crew, Medium, Nike, Poketo, Puma, RVCA, Schoolhouse, The Standard, & Warner Bros etc.
Joined Google & led a team working on identity and product design: Project Kennedy, was a cofounder of Material Design, and created design.google.com.
Currently I’m a Creative Director at YouTube leading an amazing team working on identity design. You can read an article I wrote about our typefaces, and see some press about the new logo.
I have over 280 global design patents and awards from: Cannes, TDC, ADC, and Print Magazine.
Throughout my career I have continuously painted and made sculptures which have been exhibited in solo shows in: Bristol, Edinburgh, Los Angeles, New York City, San Diego, San Francisco & Santa Monica, and have been included in the private collections of: Dion Neutra, Steven Spielberg, and Sara & Ev Williams.
