YOUTUBE EMOTES & STICKERS
I launched the first global emote and sticker sets, providing users with versatile tools for self-expression and creator support across comments, chats, and Shorts. I partnered with Jesse Lefkowitz on the art direction.
The design process for these formats presented distinct considerations. Emotes, at a compact 24x24 pixels, required meticulous attention to ensure they were legible yet expressive, resonating with specific communities and functioning effectively across both light and dark themes.
Both were developed to connect with an international audience, however, stickers could utilize animation to significantly enhance their expressive capabilities, additionally providing fans an important way to support their favorite creators.
The creation of both emotes and stickers was fundamentally informed by research and metrics identifying popular expressions, ensuring their broad appeal and usability.
